The Annual
General Meeting of MABC was held on October 20 2007 at Bonsor Recreation
Complex, Burnaby.
A good turn out was able to hear a welcoming message from our Consul
General, Encik Mohd Hassan Bal
who then departed the meeting. The past President, Gina Hansen gave her
President’s Report, which follows. Our new Board of Directors for
2007/2008 are:

President's
Report
The Malaysian Association
of British Columbia(MABC) was founded in 2002 as a non-profit,
non-governmental, non-political and non-sectarian organization whose
primary purpose is to bring together Malaysians living in British Columbia by organizing and
sponsoring social, cultural, educational and economic activities and to
foster Malaysia/Canada understanding and co-operation.
The Association is managed on a day to day basis by a volunteer Board of
Directors headed by a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and
other Directors at large.
Directors hold
their term for one year and everyone is re-elected each year at the
Associations Annual Meeting.
Membership is open to all including Malaysians and non-Malaysians. We
gather together frequently to socialize, makan and celebrate festivals,
sports activities and other events that are unique to both ours and the
Canadian culture. Members receive regular newsletters by email and other
information through our website. Member participation in the Association is
encouraged and welcomed in all areas

MABC Cultural Dance
Group
Thank you to all of you who have already volunteered to join us in taking
lessons to learn our Malaysian Cultural Dances. We still need a few more
and we can start our lesson program, at no cost, sponsored by Tourism Malaysia.
It’s open to all….male, female, all ages and especially our
children. Your children will love it, especially the opportunity to meet
and make new friends.

3rd Annual Malaysian National Day Golf Tournament.
Sponsored by the Consul General of Malaysia and
the Malaysian Association of B.C. will be held on August 20th at
Riverway Golf Course in Burnaby followed by a 10 Course Chinese Award
Banquet at Golden Swan Restaurant, Victoria Drive, Vancouver. If you are
not a golfer you can still register to attend the Awards Dinner. Terrific
Prizes are being arranged and this is a popular event for both members and
non members.

Meet 3rd Saturday of every month
for lunch. Members meet at a selected restaurant to have an informal dining
and tasting experience and to celebrate members birthdays for that month,
